Many insurance contracts stipulate that disputes be settled in mediation or arbitration. Many contracts with hospitals and healthcare providers have similar provisions. If you face a healthcare coverage or payment dispute, your chances of doing so in an ADR setting are high.

If you face a dispute regarding healthcare issues, you need an attorney who understands both the law and the healthcare industry.

Lawyer Walter Carfora is one of less than 200 attorneys in Florida who are board-certified in healthcare law. He also has a Masters in Public Health and over 30 years of legal experience. He can help you resolve your legal problems in mediation or arbitration, sparing you the costs and risks of litigation. To discuss your case with an experienced healthcare lawyer, call Walter Carfora for a consultation.

What are Healthcare Mediation and Arbitration?

Arbitration

The more formal of the two methods, arbitration involves presenting facts and arguments to an impartial decision maker. Arbitration can be binding or nonbinding. Mr. Carfora is available to serve as an arbitrator or advocate in matters involving:

  • Private insurance coverage
  • Patients rights
  • Nursing homes
  • Hospitals
  • Clinics
  • Individual healthcare providers

Mediation

Mediation is a private negotiation facilitated by a trained neutral whose role is to reach a settlement acceptable to both sides. The parties are not required to agree but often find that mediation helps them to resolve a matter with a minimum of time and expense.

There are many talented Florida attorneys who mediate. Unfortunately, most of them know little about healthcare law. Consequently, both sides can spend more time educating the mediator than resolving the matter at hand.

Mr. Carfora is a certified mediator who is familiar with the healthcare industry and its rules and regulations.  Not only does he have the ability to help you resolve your disagreement, he understands the context in which it arose.
